Sometimes it’s good to remember WHY I love to scrapbook. Little snippets of life get recorded for us to look back on and enjoy. It’s not all about happiness and laughter and joy. Sometimes we talk about the tough stuff, too. This year, I have two crafty goals:
1) To scrap more about me. My life, my memories. There aren’t very many pictures of me (I was the third child after all), but I have some. And I am going to take the challenge and see if I can devote some of my scrappy time to me.

2) To try my hand at mixed media. I’d like to branch out a bit and PLAY more. Scrapping tells a story. And art does too, but it’s more universal. Not many people outside my inner circle really care about seeing my pages. But, I’d like to try to connect to more people through my art. And, I think playing around with mixed media may just be they key!

So check back by and see what I’m working on. A third, and somewhat unofficial goal is to post a bit more frequently on my blog…:) We’ll see how that goes!

Here’s a layout from our trip to Chicago last May. We went to celebrate Em’s birthday — she wanted to go to American Girl instead of having a birthday party. We had an awesome time, and the hotel staff was fabulous.

Don’t Grow Up Too Fast

So this layout was kinda fun for me — I did quite a bit of “fussy cutting” on this paper from BoBunny. I made the tag title using my micron pen, some doodling, some ink pads and my water color pen — I LOVE this technique. It’s fun, easy and totally unique. We went to the park on a warmer, sunnier day that we’d had in a long time and Emily insisted on taking her Hello Kitty and stroller. She was determined to to take that kitty for a walk. She also had picked to go to school as a mommy for career day. She said that’s what she wanted to be when she grows up. (Awh.) She has always taken special care of her stuffed animals – putting them to bed, taking them on walks, etc. She’s a natural!

Based on a sketch over at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out I created this layout. I love this picture of Emily kissing on me. It was a wonderful day, despite the weather and I love how this all came together. The doodling is my favorite part

Only a year late

Here’s Emily’s 7th birthday page — and the first page in her 7th year album. I no longer “scrap” chronologically — thank goodness (I also, clearly no longer scrap just double-layouts!!!) but I do keep the pages stored by year. However, within each album, the pages are just haphazzard. The only standard is that the first page of each year is a birthday page. Maybe one of these days I’ll post all of them — it’s probably an interesting story — seeing how my “style” has changed — as well as seeing how Emily has grown.

I think this was my first attempt at misting…

Here’s quickie I did for Inspired Blueprints…I am really loving their sketches, and I just read on their blog that they will have them weekly from now on. How great is that??
